Filing Documents in King County - Seattle metropolitan area (content taken from King ounty Superior Court website)
King County encourages filing cases electronically via the internet, or by e-file. This allows me to draft papers pursuant to your agreement and file them for you without your having to set foot in the courthouse.
If you would rather file them yourself, original court documents are filed in the Superior Court Clerk’s Office, located in Room E609 of the King County Courthouse (Seattle) and Room 2C of the Maleng Regional Justice Center (Kent). Documents concerning juvenile justice matters should be filed in Room 307 of the Youth Services Center (Seattle).
King County (Working Papers):
In the event that your case becomes contested and a hearing is scheduled, you must give the judge copies of all documents that you file. These "working papers" (also called "courtesy copies") may be mailed or delivered to the court facility where the judge to whom your case is assigned is located. For mailing and delivery addresses, please check the Judges Directory on the King County Superior Court website.
Court Forms, Court Fees, and Other Court Document Information
Many court forms are available through the King County Clerk’s Superior Court Forms Directory.
Some documents require a filing fee which is paid to the Clerk at the time the document is filed. Payment can be made by cash, money order, or personal check if drawn on a Washington State Bank. In the case of a dissolution of marriage, the filing fee is $280. In some cases, most of this fee can be waived by the judge by filing a motion to waive such fee.
